Morning Routine; a Self-Love Ritual
My self-care practice is my daily spiritual practice from where I take off every morning. By showing up for myself every morning I allow in new energy to fuel my day ahead.
I change it up quite a bit in the morning, but I usually come back to these simple steps:
- Gently roll out of bed without looking at my phone, open the door and allow fresh air to flow in
- A mindful quick stretch either rolling out the neck or bending over and hanging for a few seconds
- Spend a few minutes with yourself being still and tuning into your body. A gentle meditation doesn’t need to take more than 1-2 minutes of your time.
- A quick little journaling session in my mindfulness journal to declutter my brain and allow space for new ideas to come through.
- Bring a glass of warm water with lemon and sea salt to the bathroom. Drinking warm lemon water with sea salt as the first thing after sleep is said to help get the digestive system moving and provide a better overall mineral balance.
- Dry brushing my body with the ionic copper dry brush. Start under the soles of your feet and work your way up towards the heart. Use dynamic yet gentle strokes to get the entire body buzzing with energy.
- Finish off with a cold shower. Just a few minutes of cold water increases circulation, awakens and strengthens the nervous system and opens the capillaries of the body. When your body is flooded by an onrush of cold water, much of the blood rushes to your organs to nourish them and keep them warm. In this process, the blood flushes out your capillary system and clears toxins.
- After the shower I apply a gentle body oil infused with a blend of essential oils to help support the lymphatic system even deeper.
- Your lemon water should be a lovely temperature now, don’t forget to drink it. Eat a spoon of high quality organic cold-pressed oil from the kitchen, olive, hemp, flaxseed or similar, to nourish your skin from the inside too.
- Finish the ritual with a deep breath and a smile in the mirror, sending gratitude to yourself and your body. Smiling boosts your body with natural stress-releasing oxytocin.
